MIKE ANTONIUK

1927 - 2008

Michael Antoniuk, beloved husband of Bernice “Bea” Antoniuk of Taber, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at the age of 80 years.
 Besides Bea, his loving wife of more than fifty years, he is survived by his sons Mike Antoniuk Jr. of Red Deer, Brad (Carol) Antoniuk of Taber and by three grandchildren, Ryan, Joshua and Carlynn. He is also survived by two sisters, Mary and Sophie and three brothers, Tony, Leslie, Fred and their families.
Mike was born September 15, 1927 on the family farm north of Sturgis, Saskatchewan to John & Sadie Antoniuk. He attended Brookview School from 1933 to 1942. After helping on the farm, Mike worked for neighbouring farmers and for the The Pas Lumber Company until returning to help his brothers on the family farm. He married Bernice Yacyshyn in August of 1957. They worked in Kelvington and The Pas where their first son Mike (“Percy”) was born in 1960. Two years later they moved to Canora, Saskatchewan where Mike & Bea purchased the Pine Grove Motel. In 1964, their second son Brad was born. In 1974, they sold the business and moved to Taber where Mike worked for various businesses until his retirement. Mike & Bea’s retirement years were spent travelling in their motor home. They enjoyed visiting friends & family and entertaining visitors.
 Mike will be remembered for his sense of humour, enjoyment of fishing, having coffee with friends, keeping up to date on his children’s & grandchildren’s activities and his love of traditional Ukrainian food and celebrations.
A Prayer Service will be held at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, February 22, 2008 at 7:00 P.M.
 A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Preeceville, Saskatchewan on Monday, February 25, 2008. Burial to follow at the Preeceville Cemetery.
