IRENE ANCTIL

1931 - 2007

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Irene Anctil. Irene passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 30, 2007 with her family by her side in the Palliative Care Unit of the St. Michael’s Health Centre.
Irene will always be lovingly remembered by her four children: Ted, Terry, Debbie (Kevin Dunn), and Al (Wendy Takeda).  Irene adored her six grandchildren: Amber, Lindsay, Aaron, Sarah, Emily and Kate. To them she was “Grammie”. The Anctil family would like to acknowledge her special friends, Donna Wetterstrand, Jerry Smith (Madeline) and the late Olga Smith (Uncle Jerry and Aunty Olga) who were an important part of her life.  Irene will be sadly missed by a brother and four sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Irene was born near Delph, Alberta in 1932, where she grew up on the family farm and later met and married the late Paul A. Anctil in Edmonton.  After they were married they spent some time in Edmonton and the Crowsnest Pass before settling in Lethbridge where Paul became a Firefighter, and then together in 1962 they started Southern Monument Company Ltd. Irene worked along side of Paul and sons Ted and Al for many years.
Irene was a devoted business woman up until her passing.  In her spare time Irene loved to sew, do crossword puzzles, and enjoyed her scratch lottery tickets. She also loved to travel. Mom also made the best coffee cake and apple pie in the whole world. In her usual spirit, Irene kept her sense of humor until the end giving great comfort to her family.  Relatives and Friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
A private family Graveside Service will be held in Mountain View Cemetery on Wednesday, October 3, 2007.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather for a reception at Ericksen’s Catering, 1715 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 between 11:30 A.M. and 1:30 P.M.
