BILL RASH

1915 - 1998

William Thomas Rash of Taber passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 1998 at the age of 82 years.
Bill was born on June 12, 1915 in Taber, the second child and oldest of four sons born to Linvil and Esther Rash. His education at the one roomed Kinniburgh School was limited but under his mother’s guidance he grew up to be a polite and caring person. Bill loved children and never tired of saddling a horse for a youngster to ride. Like most farm boys he learned to handle horses, drive the tractor and later cars and trucks.
Bill’s first sixty years were spent on the Rash homestead south of Purple Springs. He lived with Howard and Lilie for a period of ten years when they took over the farm, often driving to Taber for a few days with his parents. He liked to visit the neighbors when the chores were finished in the evening. Life was uncomplicated for Bill and worry free. Bill was included with his parents in several trips to Waterton Lake Park and journeys to Oregon to visit relatives. He really enjoyed the two Hawaiian holidays we took together in the wintertime of the eighties.
In October of 1976, Bill moved into Clearview Lodge. As long as he owned land and cattle he came out to the farm to help in springtime and harvest time, but it wasn’t long before the Lodge became home to him. When Loy started him bowling, he really enjoyed participating in the senior league for several years. He has always enjoyed attending church.
Bill is survived by his sister Ruth Campbell of Burdett; brothers Howard (Lilie) Rash of Taber and Tom (Leota) Rash of Calgary as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and a brother Harold.
The Funeral Service was held at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, January 23, 1998 at 1:30 P.M. with Pastor Bob Donaghy officiating. Interment to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Bill’s name may be made directly to the Continuing Care Unit in care of the Taber Hospital Foundation 4326 - 50 Avenue, Taber, Alberta T1G 1N9.
