JIM SKRETTING

1933 - 1998

James Skretting, beloved husband of Anne Louise Skretting of thirty eight years, passed away peacefully at his farm home near Vauxhall, surrounded by his family on Saturday, May 16, 1998 at the age of 64 years.
Jim was born in Bassano, September 12, 1933 the seventh of ten children to Gust & Jorgine Skretting of Kinnondale. He moved with his family to Circle Hill in 1937, where he attended school and lived until 1959 when he married Anne Schwab. They then moved to their Vauxhall farm where he has resided up until the time of his passing. Jim enjoyed his children, grandchildren and farming. He enjoyed sports in his younger years; playing hockey, baseball and later coaching his children’s teams. He loved to entertain people and always appreciated visits from friends and family, especially during his recent illness.
Besides his loving wife Anne, Jim is survived by his three children his son Sheldon Skretting, and two daughters Michelle (Robert) Ostafichuk and Jackie (Ken) Kopervas and their children Kolten, Kelsey and Jolayne. He is also survived by his sister Mary Key and brothers Hans, Torsten, Gust (Anne), Gudmond (Ionne), Arnold (Irene) and Edwin Skretting; his mother-in-law Mrs. A. Schwab; brother-in-law Peter Braun, Peter (Sonja) Pepneck and sisters-in-law Ingrid (Ray) Speaker and Carol Skretting as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, a brother Sven, sister Judith Braun, brother-in-law Harry Key, niece Allyson Skretting; a nephew Selmar Skretting and niece Jennifer Peters.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, May 20, 1998 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church, 320 - 9 Street North, Vauxhall on Thursday, May 21, 1998 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Jakob Pillibeit officiating. Interment followed in the family plot at the Enchant Cemetery.
