ALEX POWELL

1921 - 2003

Alexander Powell, beloved husband of Olga Powell of Taber, passed away peacefully in the evening of Monday, April 14, 2003 at the Taber Hospital.
Alex was born in Taber on March 3, 1921. Alex and Olga were married on October 27, 1943 in New Westminister, British Columbia. He spent all his life, except for three years spent in the army during World War II, in the Taber and Grassy Lake area. His love was farming and feeding cattle, fishing, hunting and playing crib with his next door neighbor Albert. He was a leader in the Grassy Lake 4-H Beef Club, Chairman for the Chin Coulee Gas Co-op, involved in the Taber Kiwanis, and a member of the St. Theodore’s Anglican Church.
Alex is the beloved husband of Olga; father of Marian (Jim) Reynolds, Deanna (Robert) Dickson, Richard (Margaret) and Ted. He is the grandfather and great-grandfather to Jim and Lori (Mason) Hendricks, Debbie Hendricks, Dan and Kathy (Jennifer and Mark) Harmon, Robert Jr. (Brittany and Courtney) Dickson, Allan Dickson, Patty (Joseph) Rooks, Kathleen Dickson (J.J. SharpAdze Fiancé), Alexander and Tracy (Damien) Currie, Shane Powell, Ryan Powell and Ashley Powell. Alex is also survived by Ann Allen, Mike (Jeanette) Powell, Mary Peterson, Bill Powell, Helen Peterson, John Korsa, George (Carol) Korsa; sister-in-law, Rene Tate and brother-in-law Bill (Nelda) Leschuk as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Alex was predeceased by his father, John J. Powell and his mother, Jane, step-father, Nick Korsa; sister, Stephanie Korsa and brother, George Powell; granddaughter, Susan Dickson; greatgrandson, Dean Hendricks; son-in-law, Donald Hendricks; brothers and sisters-in-law, Margaret Powell, Bill Allen, Wilfred Peterson, Mary Powell, Leo Peterson, John and Pat Leschuk and Bob Tate.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, April 18, 2003 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and again on Saturday, April 19, 2003 from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the Southland Funeral Chapel.
The Funeral Service was held at St. Theodore’s Anglican Church, 5120 - 44 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, April 19, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Dale Lang officiating.
Interment followed in the Taber Memorial Garden.
