JOHN KLIM

1922 - 2003

John Klim, beloved husband of Ruby Klim of Vauxhall, passed away peacefully at the Taber Continuing Care Facility on Tuesday, April 29, 2003 at the age of 80 years.
John was born in Glentworth, Saskatchewan on August 8, 1922. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force, serving from 1942 to 1946. Following his discharge, John worked for B.C. Fisheries in Nootka, British Columbia before moving to Lethbridge where he worked for Canadian Oil. In 1952, he and his wife Ruby moved to the Circle Hill District to take up farming and resided there until they retired to Vauxhall in 1979. Over the years John was actively involved in curling, fishing, fastball, umpiring minor baseball and working on motors. He was a lifetime member of the Vauxhall Royal Canadian Legion and the Vauxhall Curling Club. John will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
John is survived by Ruby, his wife of fifty eight years and their children, a son, Larry (Kathie) of Vauxhall, three daughters, Carol (Gerry) LaRose of Pincher Creek, Cathy (Chuck) Skretting of Enchant and Wendy (Larry) Orsten of Coaldale; eight grandchildren Randy LaRose of Surrey, British Columbia, Brent LaRose of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Colin (Rhonda) LaRose of Pincher Creek, Jody (Brad) Siemens of Coaldale, Keith Klim of Calgary, Mark (Janaya) Skretting of Coaldale, Carrie Skretting of Calgary and Ashley Orsten of Coaldale; four great-grandchildren Aleigh, Dylan, Peyton and Morgan LaRose. John is also survived by three brothers, Nick (Alice) of Kamloops, British Columbia, Harry (Shirley) of Vernon, British Columbia and Wally (Alice) of Vernon, British Columbia; two sisters, Natalie (Joe) Welker of Vernon, British Columbia and Pat Klea of Penticton, British Columbia; sisters-in-law, Mildred Skretting and Greta Olson of Camrose as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his parents John and Anne Klim; father and mother-in-law Gabriel and Rakel Skretting; sisters Chrissie and husband Charlie Chamberlain, Anne and husband Cliff Isaac; brothers-in-law Russ Klea, Trygve Skretting and Palmer Olson.
The Funeral Service was held at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church, 320 - 9 Street North, Vauxhall on Saturday, May 3, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Bill Glaspell officiating.
Interment followed in the Vauxhall Cemetery.
