MORRIS NELSON

1918 - 2003

Morris Edmund Nelson, beloved husband of Joyce Nelson of Burdett, passed away peacefully at the Bow Island Health Centre on Friday, June 6, 2003 at the age of 84 years.
Morris was born on the family farm August 1, 1918 to parents Ole and Ellen Nelson. He received his schooling south of Burdett at the Brownsdale School, after which he worked on the family farm. Morris raised bum lambs and gradually acquired a herd of sheep. In 1948 he bought his own farm and on October 17, 1949 married Joyce Knibb. They took up residence on the farm and have
continued to reside there.
Besides his wife Joyce, Morris is survived by two children LaVonne (Nick) Stebanuk of Burdett and LaVerne (Suzanne) Nelson of Burdett; four grandchildren Troy (Dawn) Stebanuk, Dallas Stebanuk, Amy Nelson and Heidi Nelson; two great grandchildren Taiah Stebanuk and Chance Stebanuk; a sister Myrtle Qually; three brothers Norman Nelson, Merle (Ella) Nelson and Vern (Linda) Nelson and also by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Walter Nelson and three sisters Evelyn Hunt, Violet Nelson and Vivian Johnston.
The Funeral Service was held at the Burdett United Church, Burdett on Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Kris Peters officiating. Interment followed in the Burdett Cemetery.
