JOSEF DOLLFUSZ

1915 - 2003

Josef Dollfusz of Bow Island, beloved husband of the late Magdalena (Lena) Dollfusz, passed away at the Bow Island Health Centre on Monday, June 9, 2003 at the age of 88 years.
Josef was born in Austria on February 8, 1915. He immigrated to Canada with his wife and children in 1956, settling in Nobleford. They resided in Coaldale and Lethbridge before taking up permanent residence in Bow Island. Josef and his son-in-law Peter opened the Bow Island Tire and Radiator Shop and operated the business for twelve years and today is known as Fountain Tire. After selling his business he worked for the Town Of Bow Island until his retirement in 1980. During his retirement, with his wife Lena at his side, they travelled extensively throughout Canada and also the USA, Europe and Mexico, with his favorite spot being Las Vegas.
Josef was well known by the residents of Bow Island as a kind and generous man who liked to visit and talk with his friends. With all his travelling and visiting, Josef would make a point to watch his favorite game shows, Wheel Of Fortune and Jeopardy. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and will be missed by his family and friends.
Josef is survived by his four children and fourteen grandchildren Rita (Peter) and their children Doris, Ingrid and Monica; Jutta (deceased) (Brandt) and their children Norleen, Darlene and Roy; Lothar (Linda) and their children Tony, Cathy and Jeff; Margrit (Kai) and daughter Krista; Ursula (Murice) and children Brett, Scott, Robin and Daniel; eight great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Magdalena in 2001, a sister Josephine, a son Josef in 1963 and a daughter Jutta in 2000.
Relatives and friends were invited for Prayers at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 1st Street East, Bow Island on Thursday, June 12, 2003 at 6:30 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 1 Street East, Bow Island on Friday, June 13 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Thomas Vadessary Celebrant.
Interment followed in the Bow Island Cemetery.
