JIM GRAHAM

1914 - 2003

Jim Graham of Taber, beloved husband of the late Florence Graham, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at the age of 89 years.
Jim was born at the family farm in Purple Springs on June 15, 1914 and received his education from the Hudson School and then Central School in Taber. He married Florence Kinniburgh on October 3, 1938 and they farmed south of Fincastle. Jim was active in community affairs including an original director of the Hudson R.E.A., Deputy Reeve for the M.D. of Taber, council representative of the Barons Eureka Health Unit and an appointed representative on the Lethbridge Auxiliary Hospital District. While still farming he was president and repairman for the Golden Prairie Telephone Mutual from 1954 until 1967 at which time he sold the farm and went to work for Milliken Farm Supplies Ltd. in Taber. Jim was an easy going, helpful gentleman willing to do anything to help anyone out. He enjoyed hockey and liked to hunt, fish, feed birds, garden and travel. Jim will be forever remembered by his family of five children; Joan (Joe) Pupp of Lethbridge, Elaine (Dave) Williams of Calgary, Linda (Charlie) Renner of Taber, Darlene (Peter) Weippert of Taber and Jim (Joyce) Graham of Picture Butte; nineteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; a sister Ina Sinclair of Courtney, British Columbia; and Florence’s family Marion Kinniburgh, Corrine Kinniburgh and Bettejean (Bruce) Fisher all of Taber. Besides his wife Florence he was predeceased by his parents Oscar and Martha Graham, an infant son Hugh James, brothers and sisters-in-law John Sinclair, Pearl (Gillis) Hart, Louise (Frank) Fletcher, John (Ella) Graham, Charlie (Gert) Graham and Florence’s brothers Jock Kinniburgh and Jerry Kinniburgh.
The Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue Taber on Saturday, June 28, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Jim Lochhead officiating. Interment followed in the Taber Memorial Garden.
