KEN HIRNEY

1949 - 2003

Kenneth Dale Hirney of Hays, beloved husband of Phyllis (Glas) Hirney, passed away at Taber Hospital on June 27, 2003 at the age of 54 years.
He was born in Brooks, Alberta on June 10, 1949 and received his education in Rolling Hills, Alberta.
Ken worked all his youthful years in the oil industry travelling to many places. In later years he bought his own water hauling truck and then a steam truck, still continuing to work in the oil patch until he retired in 2001. Ken’s many hobbies and interests were camping, fishing, hunting and bullriding in the rodeo. He will be remembered as a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend.
Ken is survived by his wife of thirty four years, Phyllis; son Kelly (Linda) and grandsons Brady and Brendon; daughter Tammy (Wade Coates) and granddaughter Dakoda and grandson Dawson; his mother Lucy Hirney; two brothers Bill and Gordon, four sisters Elaine, Margaret, Suzanne and Janet and their spouses and also by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father John Hirney in September 1987 and his mother-in-law Thelma Mae Glas.
A celebration of Ken’s life was held at the Hays Community Centre, Hays, on Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at 2:00 P.M.
