NORA SAUTER

1913 - 2003

It is with a deep sense of loss we announce the death of Nora Jean Sauter, beloved wife of Fred Sauter formerly of Vauxhall, who passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 10, 2003 at the age of 90 years.
Nora is the mother of Phyllis (Brian) Bell, Beverly (Harry) Nagata and Rodney (Gail) Sauter; grandmother of Lindsay Bell, Lauren (Sandi) Bell, Mirran (Zoran) Rajcic, Megan (Bill Trcka) Bell, Kerry, Kent and Kristine Nagata, Tracy (Doug Bakke), Troy (Brandi) Sauter; great-grandma to Taylor, Logan and Cooper.
Nora was born in Port Alberni, British Columbia on April 1, 1913 to John and Hattie McCoy; a twin to David and a sister to Ann, Joe, Jack and Lavern. Nora was raised and received her schooling in Edmonton, graduating in nursing from the Edmonton General Hospital. Upon graduation she nursed in Worsley, Alberta and later went on to McGill University in Montreal where she obtained her diploma in public health nursing. She arrived in Vauxhall in 1940 to begin her career as a public health nurse. Mom and Dad would have celebrated their sixty first wedding anniversary on August 20, 2003.
Besides her immediate family, Nora is survived by sisters-in-law, Nellie McCoy and Peg McCoy of Edmonton and Beatrice Sauter and Marianne (Dr. Ben) Saik of Calgary as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends were invited for a Prayer Service at St. Michael’s Health Centre Chapel, 1400 - 9 Avenue South, Lethbridge on Monday, July 14, 2003 at 7:00 P.M.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family prior to the funeral service at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church, 320 - 9th Street North, Vauxhall on Tuesday, July 15, 2003 from 12:00 noon until 12:55 P.M. The Celebration of Nora’s life followed at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Terry Shillington of the United Church of Canada officiating. Interment followed in the Vauxhall Cemetery.
