1916 - 2003

James (Jim) Douglas, beloved husband of Margaret Douglas, passed away at the Taber Hospital on Saturday, August 16, 2003 at the age of 87 years.
Jim was born at Stoppington, Alberta on July 22, 1916 a son to James and Elizabeth Douglas. Jim responded to the call of duty by enlisting in the Royal Canadian Army on January 27, 1941. He served overseas in the United Kingdom, Central Mediterranean and Continental Europe. While serving he met Margaret Wing and they were later married on October 29, 1945. A short time later he was discharged from the Army in May of 1946. They lived in Scotfield until 1954 when they moved to Hays where they farmed and raised their family. In 1981 they moved to their new farm north of Taber. Jim loved to farm and raise cattle... it was his passion in life.
Besides his wife of fifty seven years, Margaret, he will be remembered by his children Susan Nelson and her children Sarah and Erik; Sheila (Karl) Johansen and their children Michael and Christopher; a son Jim; George (Jessie) and their daughters Rebecca and Katherine; John (Paula) and their children Ryan, Laura and Sydney; two sisters, Hazel and Mary as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by a son Alan and two sisters, Edith and Lillian and two brothers, George and William.
Jim's family gathered at Southland Funeral Chapel to paid their respects and reflect on their memories of Jim as a husband, father and grandfather.
