KAREN GERTZEN

1960 - 2003

Karen Lynn Gertzen of Fort Macleod, passed away at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital on Tuesday, August 26, 2003 at the age of 43 years.
Karen was born in Cardston, Alberta on August 19, 1960, a daughter to Marie and Arnold Gertzen. She was raised in Vauxhall and graduated in 1978. Karen attended the Lethbridge Community College where she was enrolled in the Accounting Secretarial Program. In June of 1983 she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Karen enjoyed riding horses... her favorite horse was “Sandy”. At the time of her passing she was a resident of the S.D.U. Hospital in Fort Macleod.
Karen will be dearly missed by her parents, Arnold and Marie; three brothers, Kevin (Cindy) and their children Rylan and Braden; Keith and Kurtis (Amanda); aunts and uncles, Richard (Diane) Gertzen of Delta, British Columbia, Gil (Marlene) Pakarno of Vauxhall, Otto (Lillian) Pakarno of Lethbridge, Jerry (Isabel) Pakarno of Rosemary, Alberta, Linda McAughey of Kearney, Ontario and Dan Jones of Vauxhall as well as numerous cousins. Karen was predeceased by her grandparents, Lawrence and Jean Gertzen and Alex and Elizabeth Pakarno; aunt Toni Jones and uncle Lewis Gertzen.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church, 320 - 9 Street North, Vauxhall, on Tuesday, September 2, 2003 from 1:00 P.M. to 1:55 P.M. The Funeral Service followed at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Noel Wygiera officiating. Interment followed in the Vauxhall Cemetery.
