SHARI SMITH

1958 - 2003

Shari Lynn Smith, beloved wife of Rick Smith of Vauxhall, passed away at St. Michael’s Palliative Care, following a courageous battle with cancer, on Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at the age of 45 years.
Shari was born at Lethbridge on October 22, 1958 to Jack and Anne Hayden. She was raised in the Vauxhall area where she received her schooling. She attended the Lethbridge Community College where she graduated in Business Administration, majoring in accounting. Shari married Rick Smith on November 1, 1980. Since 1984 Rick and Shari and their family have resided in Vauxhall. She enjoyed sports, especially watching her children play hockey and baseball and coached Stacy’s slow pitch team. Shari was the Zone 5 Discipline Coordinator for Hockey Alberta. She enjoyed camping at the Old Man River Dam, and was well known for her ability to “shop”. Shari recently took up the hobby of photography and enjoyed crocheting. She was a long time employee of the Bow River Gas Co-op and at the time of her passing was the office supervisor.
Besides her loving husband Rick, she will be forever missed by her children Ryan and Stacy; her parents Jack and Anne Hayden of Vauxhall; sisters Maggie (Cal) Olson of Pincher Creek and Darlene (Dan) MacLeod of Calgary; brother Wayne of Vauxhall; grandmother Annie Bugajski of Calgary; mother-in-law Jessie Smith of Winnipeg; sister-in-law Linda (Dennis) Chartier; brother-in-law David Smith; nieces and nephews Cory, Kevin, Dennis, Brianne, Carlee, Michael and Roger; great niece Jocelyn and great nephew Jordan.
She was predeceased by her brother Brian; grandfather Tony Bugajski and father-in-law Ray Smith.
The Funeral Service was held at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church, 320 - 9 Street North, Vauxhall on Friday, November 14, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Brent Woodard officiating.
