ERNEST CROWSON

1936 - 2003

Ernest C. (Popeye) Crowson, beloved husband of Donna Crowson of Vauxhall, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 at the age of 67 years.
Ernest was born at Vidora, Saskatchewan on October 18, 1936, a son of Ernest and Irene Crowson. He received his schooling in Saskatchewan, moving to the Vauxhall area in 1956. He worked with W.S. Johnson until 1976, at which time he began farming on his own. Ernest also worked for a number of years with Vauxhall Grazing and as a pile operator at the beet dump. He grew beets for many years and enjoyed raising and feeding cattle and attending auction sales. Ernest’s life revolved around his love of work. He was predeceased by his first wife Irene Crowson and in November 1991 he married Donna Overes.
He will be forever missed by his wife Donna, and his son Ernie (Barb) Crowson; two step-children Katherine (John) Kolaric and Dan (Shirley) Overes; five grandchildren Elisabeth Crowson, Derrek Crowson, Bryon Crowson, Jeremy Andrei and Charlize Kolaric; brothers and sisters Ella (Richard) Nolt, Bertha Fraser (Glen Seibold), Evelyn (Willie) Waddle, Daisy (Henry) Wickenheiser, Lloyd (Martha) Crowson, Linda (Ralph) Staples, Edna (Wally) Enns, Margaret (Sub) Skretting and Lyle (Dixie) Crowson and also by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Irene Crowson, two daughters Doreen Crowson and Nancy Duchcherer and also by a sister Arlene in infancy.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Sunday, December 28, 2003 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church, 320 - 9 Street North, Vauxhall on Monday, December 29, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Jim Lochhead and Janice McCloskey officiating. Interment followed in the Vauxhall Cemetery.
