ELIZABETH UNRUH

1898 - 1999

Elizabeth Unruh, beloved wife of the late David Unruh, passed away peacefully on March 29, 1999 at the Taber Continuing Care.
She was born in Russia on October 24, 1898. Together with her husband and son, she immigrated to Canada in 1926. The first seven years in Canada were spent at Stavely on the Oxley Ranch. From there they moved to Vauxhall where they farmed for thirty four years. In 1967 they retired to the Town of Vauxhall where summers were busy with fruit trees, flowers and vegetable garden. Winter months were spent quilting, crocheting and other types of handwork. After her husband passed away in 1986 she remained in her own home until June of 1998. At the age of ninety nine, she moved to the Taber Continuing Care. A recent highlight for her and the family was her one hundredth birthday celebration on October 25, 1998.
She is survived by children Abe (Helen) Unruh of Taber, Johanna (Henry) Herfort of Calgary, Henry (Sue) Unruh of Enchant, Elizabeth (Henry Steely) Rempel and Jake (Mary) Unruh of Vauxhall; daughters-in-law Esther Unruh of Taber and Anne Unruh of Vauxhall; twenty five grandchildren and fifty two great grandchildren; two sisters Susie (Henry) Reimer and Margaret Riediger of Coaldale; one brother Jacob Riediger of Tofield, Alberta and brother-in-law John Reimer of Coaldale.
