JOCK KINNIBURGH

1921 - 2002

John “Jock” Middleton Kinniburgh of Taber, beloved husband of Marion Kinniburgh, passed away in Lethbridge on Saturday, April 27, 2002 at the age of 80 years.
Jock was born at Purple Springs on August 11, 1921, the son of Hugh and Sylvia Kinniburgh. He received his elementary schooling at Sherburne and his high schooling in Taber. Jock married Marion Reynolds at Portage La Prairie, Manitoba on November 16, 1943 and served overseas with the RCAF from 1944 to 1945. He returned to Taber to the family farm following the war. Jock became Taber’s Postmaster followed by Kinniburgh Jewellery and then Kinniburgh Implement Co. In semi-retirement he sold real estate and for 20 years, he and Marion spent their winters in Phoenix. Jock was a member of Knox United Church and served on the Session and also served as Clerk of Session. He was a long time member of the Taber Kiwanis Club, Masonic Lodge, Taber Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Taber Recreation Board and was an adjutant with Air Cadets Squadron 225 with Rank of Flight Lieutenant. Together Jock and Marion enjoyed camping, square dancing and round dancing. In his spare time he loved hunting, fishing and golfing.
Besides his loving wife Marion, he will be sadly missed by his children Cheryl (John) Horvath of Taber, Terry Lee (Bill) Pupp of Lethbridge, Craig (Rita) Kinniburgh and Randy (Nancy) Kinniburgh all of Calgary; grandchildren Laurie (Doug) Friesen, Patrick Horvath, Christopher (Gayle) Horvath, Dion (Dean Lutz)
Horvath, Shauna, Jay-Dean and Nicole Pupp, Tess, Jennifer and Courtney Kinniburgh; great-grandchildren Kassidee, Jordyn, Jack, Matthew, Darian, Robyn and Spencer; sister Bettejean (Bruce) Fisher of Purple Springs; brother-in-law Jim Graham and sister-in-law Corrine Kinniburgh both of Taber.
He was predeceased by his parents Hugh and Sylvia Kinniburgh; sister Florence and brother Jerry.
The Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Jim Lochhead officiating. Interment followed in the Taber Memorial Garden.
