DICK LAYTON

1935 - 2002

Richard “Dick” Layton, beloved husband of Mrs. Darlene Layton of Taber, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2002 at the age of 67 years.
Dick was born at Taber on May 12, 1935, the eldest son of Calvin and Iola Harding Layton. He received his schooling in Taber and married his sweetheart Darlene Jensen on November 5, 1955. Dick and Darlene farmed and raised cattle until he took a position as agricultural fieldman with the M.D. of Taber. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved the time he spent working at the Cardston Temple. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and especially teasing his grandkids. Dick loved to joke around and always had a funny comment for everyone.
He will be forever missed by his loving wife Darlene; five children and thirteen grandchildren Kevin (Barbara) Layton and their children Brandon (Amber), Jessica, Stephanie and LeAnne; Penny (Nelson) Carswell and their children Chelsey (Brock), Kimberlee, Jadyn and Jared; Rhonda (Rob) Schaafsma and their sons Mitch and Brett; Kristi (Stephen) Paiha and their children Kortnee, Brooke and Brittyn; and Cory (Cassidy) Layton; four brothers Jerry (Gail) Layton, Leo (Diane) Layton, Myron (Judy) Layton and Gordie (Gita) Layton; three sisters Carolyn (Rodney) Zaugg, Barbara Wright and Betty (Ray) Bird and also by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father Calvin Layton, mother Iola Harding Layton and brother-in-law Karl Wright.
The Funeral Service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, November 12, 2002 at 1:00 P.M. with Bishop Kendon Bennett conducting. Interment followed in the Taber Memorial Garden.
