HELEN VARGA

1919 - 2000

Helen Varga of Taber, beloved wife of the late Joseph Varga, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2000 at the age of 80 years.
Helen was born the daughter of Alexander and Julia Soltesz on May 5, 1919 in Hungary. With her mother and brother, as a young girl she came across to Canada where they reunited with her father. On December 26, 1935 she married Joseph Varga. In her spare time she liked to play bingo and was talented as an embroiderer. She also liked to make homemade spiral noodles for her friends and family. Helen’s family was very important to her. She enjoyed watching the antics of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will missed by her family and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Mary (Joseph) Arisman; her grandchildren and great grandchildren Monica Arisman; Tom (Lana) Arisman and their daughter Kayla; Patrick Arisman and his children Christopher and Alex; Joann (Jay) Dowell and their children Jo Le and Jesse; David (Cindy) Varga and their children Courtney and Blaine; and Gregory (Keri) Varga and their daughter Brenna. She is also survived by her sisters Julia (Dan) Hoffart and Margaret (Alex) Diepdael; a daughter-in-law Mildred Varga and a brother-in-law Jack Knibbs as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen was predeceased by her husband Joseph; a son Joseph; her parents Alexander and Julia Soltesz; a brother Peter Soltesz and a sister Isabel Knibbs.
Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, January 6, 2000 at 8:30 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, January 7, 2000 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Jim de los Angeles Celebrant. Interment followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
