ALEX GUMINY

1930 - 2000

Alexander Leland Guminy, beloved husband of Esther Guminy (nee Weiss) of Taber, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 14, 2000 at the age of 69 Years.
Born to Alex and Ruth Guminy, he grew up and spent all of his life in Southern Alberta. He was very proud to have been a Police Officer in Taber and later the Police Chief of Coaldale. In his later years he worked for the Commissionaires in Lethbridge, from which he retired due to failing health.
Besides his wife Esther of fifty one years, he leaves eight children to cherish his memory, David (Edith) Guminy and their sons Brandon, Steven and Scott; Doreen (Terry) Schaufert and their children Laurie (Braidon and Taylor) and Kevin; Stephanie (Dennis) Kemick and their children Michael, Valli (Doug) Ware and Taliah) and Cody; Bruce Guminy and his son Jason; Ken (Agnes) Guminy and their children Jennifer, Travis and Jonathan; Carol (Bud) Binning; Warren Guminy and his children Erinn and Kyle; and John Guminy and his sons Jamie and Bradly. He is also survived by four sisters Sylvia (Bob) Beres, Marsha (Wally) Pederson, Charlotte (John Stabler) and Elaine (Joe Mazutinec) and their families.
Alex was predeceased by his brothers-in-law Ron Johnston and Steve Chomas.
Alex greatly loved his children and especially enjoyed it when his grandchildren and great grandchildren came to visit. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, April 19, 2000 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, April 20, 2000 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Jim de los Angeles Celebrant. Interment followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
