BETH GARNER

1913 - 2001

Ella Beth Garner of Foremost, beloved wife of the late Walter Garner, passed away in Bow Island on Sunday, July 22, 2001 at the age of 87 years.
Beth was born at Goddard, Alberta on July 27, 1913, the daughter of Clarence and Elizabeth Coolidge. She received her schooling at Goddard and on October 17, 1931 she married Walter Garner. The couple lived in Coutts for a few years before moving to the Foremost area in 1940. In 1947 they moved into the Town of Foremost where she had resided until the time of her passing.
In her earlier years she tended a large garden with special attention to her flowers. Beth was known to be a good cook and was famous for her stew. She made quilts for the Red Cross and in her spare time enjoyed sewing, crocheting and knitting. In Beth’s later years one would often see her sitting on her chair watering her garden.
Beth will be sadly missed by her three children Joyce (Ernie) Karl of Foremost, Jackie (Ed) Sanderson of Taber and David (Cheryl) Garner of Barnwell; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; sister-in-law Dorothy Coolidge of Lethbridge and also by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Walter in 1990; son Bill in 1968 and by two brothers.
A family graveside service was held at the Foremost Cemetery on Wednesday, July 25, 2001 with Reverend Lara Bowditch of the United Church of Canada officiating.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Beth’s name may be made to the Bow Island Health Centre, Bag 3990, Bow Island, Alberta TOK OGO.
