MISAKO SASAKI

1901 - 2001

Misako Sasaki, beloved wife of the late Riichi Sasaki, passed away peacefully in Taber on Wednesday, July 25, 2001 in her one hundredth year.
On August 11, 1901 Misako was born in Hiroshima, Japan. In 1920 she came to Canada first settling in Clayburn, British Columbia and then moved to Alberta in 1942 where she resided in Welling and later made Taber her home in 1952. Misako was proud to be one of the first residents of the Homestead Manor. In January of 1999, she became a resident of Clearview Lodge. Due to health concerns she became hospitalized and has resided at the Taber Continuing Care Facility for the past couple of years.
Misako will be fondly remembered by her children Jiro (Mae) Sasaki of Taber, Yo Ikebuchi of Taber, Alice (Joe) Ohashi of Taber, Tomi (Jerry) Hisaoka of Lethbridge and Amy (Ken) Kurio of Lethbridge; fifteen grandchildren, twenty four great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives in Japan.
Besides her husband Riichi, she was predeceased by a son Tommy; son-in-law George Ikebuchi and a grandson Ted Ikebuchi.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, July 26, 2001 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at the Taber Buddhist Church (Johnson Addition) on Friday, July 27, 2001 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Nariyuki Hattori officiating. Interment followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
