MARY HORVATH

1938 - 2001

Mary Horvath of Taber, beloved wife of the late Urban Horvath, passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2001 at the age of 81 years.
Mary was born in Toranj, Yugoslavia on April 13, 1920, the daughter of Mary and Andrew Chontosh Sr. On July 17, 1938 she came to Canada with her mother and siblings, settling in Taber. She met and later married Urban Horvath on February 1, 1939.
For thirty seven years, she was an active member of the C.W.L. and also served as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Mary enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family and in her later years she loved to travel. She fondly recollected her travels to Europe, Hawaii and Disneyland.
Her family was a main focus of her life and she will be missed by them.
She is survived by her children Anne (Fred) Merkl, John (Cheryl) Horvath, Tony Horvath and Rudy (Tina) Horvath all of Taber; twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; a sister Katie (Joe) Milder and a sister-in-law Anne Chontosh and also by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Urban, her parents, brothers Andy and Paul Chontosh and sister Anne Chontosh.
Relatives and friends were invited for Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, October 10, 2001 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, October 11, 2001 at 10:00 A.M. Burial followed in the Taber Memorial Garden.
