KATHERINE SEKURA

1904 - 2001

Katherine Sekura of Taber, beloved wife of the late Mike Sekura Sr., passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Monday, November 19, 2001 at the age of 97 years.
Katherine is survived by her children Mike Jr. (Marion) Sekura of Taber, Mary Krizsan (Gordon Bennett) of Taber and Julie Molnar of Calgary; seventeen grandchildren; twenty seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Katherine was born October 29, 1904 in Sokolovac, Croatia. She married Mike Sekura Sr. on October 23, 1923. In 1928 she and their daughter Tresa came to Canada to join her husband. They started farming south of Taber in 1930. This is where she lived until 1988 when she moved to Clearview Lodge, where she has resided until the time of her passing. As long as she lived on the farm, she grew a large garden which she shared with family and friends. She was an excellent cook and would feed all visitors to her home. She will be sadly missed.
Katherine was predeceased by her husband Mike Sr., daughter Tresa Revak, son-in-law Joe Revak, brother Frank Osterreicher, grandson Jimmy Molnar and two great grandsons Robert Krizsan and Michael Sekura.
Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, November 21, 2001 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, November 22, 2001 at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Father Jim de los Angeles celebrant. Burial followed in the Taber Memorial Garden.
