ANNA HUDSON

1905 - 2001

Anna Argretha Hudson of Taber, beloved wife of the late Arthur Hudson, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2001 at the age of 96 years.
Anna was born in Lethbridge, January 29, 1905, the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Speaker. A coalminers daughter, she started school at St. Basils in Lethbridge. In 1910 the family moved to Enchant where she attended Plain Center School and then completed her high school in Lethbridge.
She married Art Hudson on September 29, 1925 and moved to their farm south of Purple Springs. They retired to Taber in January of 1956.
Anna was always active in community efforts including secretary of the Sherburne School and Hudson R.E.A., past matron of the O.E.S. and lifetime member of Knox United Church, and was a member and worker of the U.C.W. until moving into Clearview Lodge in March of 1996.
She is survived by her daughter Mildred Fuller of Taber and her children, Jim of Spokane, Marilyn (Pete) Djordjevic of Taber, Ken (Norrie) of Lethbridge, Cheryl (Steve) Nixon of Lethbridge, Allen (Muriel) of Calgary and Patricia (Don) Huxley of Brooks; son Arnold “Dick” (Mae) of Taber and their children, Diana, Cindy (Dave) Varga of Taber and Cliff (Carol) of Lloydminster; a daughter-in-law Irene and her family Sheila (Sid) Visser of Lethbridge, Chris (Dan) Miller of Grande Prairie, Wade of Saskatoon, Pete (Julie) of Purple Springs and Dana (Sheila) of Lethbridge; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; a brother Albert (Paula) Speaker of Langley, British Columbia as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her loving husband Art who passed away in March of 1973, she was predeceased by a son Roy “Bud”; an infant son Kennith; son-in-law Eugene; parents, Pete and Elizabeth Speaker; brothers, John, Pete, Mike and Alex; sisters-in-law, Alice, Trudy, Jessie and Olga; sisters, Mary, Elizabeth and Helen and brothers-in-law, Jack Pickering and Fred Russell
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Sunday, December 30, 2001 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Monday, December 31, 2001 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Jim Lochhead officiating. Burial followed in the Taber Memorial Garden.
