ETHEL MARTIN

1905 - 2000

Ethel Lillian Martin (Wright) of Vauxhall, wife of the late Gilbert Martin, peacefully passed away in Taber on Thursday, April 27, 2000 at the age of 94 years.
Ethel was born on September 26, 1905 in Watonga, Oklahoma the eldest daughter of William H. and Leona Pearl Wright. Her family moved to Canada in 1921 and had resided in the Vauxhall area for 79 years. In 1926 she married Gilbert and began their life together.
Ethel will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children and grandchildren; a son, Wallace of Brooks and grandchildren Sharon Desruisseaur, Sharlene (David) Lyons, Dennis (Leanne) Martin, Vernon Martin and Sherry Lynn (Troy) Wilk; a daughter Alice Clayton of Maple Ridge, British Columbia and grandchildren, Monica Clayton, Michael (Rachelle), Mark and Mary-Maureen; a son Stanley (Jean) Martin and grandchildren Nadine (Jim) Moose, Stanley William (Lois) and Brian (Leslie); and a son Terry Lee Martin of Spruce Grove, Alberta as well as numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins in the United States and many good friends. She is also survived by a sister Oneta Merriman of Bakersfield, California; and brothers James (Lillian) Wright of Sexsmith, Alberta and Ivan (Willa) Wright of Taber; her sisters-in-law, Melba Wright of Vauxhall, Mabel Wright of Rimbey, Alberta, Mildred Wright of Portland, Oregon and Reta Wright of Rimbey, Alberta.
Ethel was predeceased by her husband Gilbert in 1979; her brothers W.W. Bill Wright, Glen Wright, Murphy Wright and Ralph Wright; a sister Thelma (Stewart) Cameron; a daughter-in-law Martha Lillian Martin in 1987; a son-in-law Charles Edward Clayton in 1987; and a grandson-in-law Guy Desruisseaur.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Sunday, April 30, 2000 from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 322 - 2 Street North, Vauxhall on Monday, May 1, 2000 at 2:00 P.M. with Bishop Richard Phillips conducting. Burial followed in the Vauxhall Cemetery.
