ELSIE FLICKINGER

1921 - 2006

Mrs. Elsie Flickinger of Taber, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2006 at the age of 84 years.
Elsie was born on March 12, 1921 in Craik, Saskatchewan. She was raised on Parks family farm near Craik where she attended school. She later attended Secretarial School in Regina followed by five years of employment with the Agricultural Department at the Provincial Buildings. She married Lorne Wolfe on March 2, 1946 in Regina.  Lorne passed away in 1958, leaving her with their four children. She married Charles Flickinger on February 1, 1975. Elsie held various secretarial jobs over the years and enjoyed travel, fishing and crafts, in particular counted cross stitch. She received the first place award for the largest trout caught at Payne Lake. She was a member of the Eastern Star, where she received her 50 year membership award, and was also active with Women of the Moose and the Royal Canadian Legion. Family was important to Elsie and she looked forward to family gatherings.
She is survived by her children Gary (Sharon) Brinkmeyer of Charleston, Illinois; Ken Wolfe of Edmonton and Heather (Rocky) McPhee of Taber; seven grandchildren Michelle McPhee, Brad McPhee, Charles McPhee, Tony Wolfe, Jennifer Wolfe, Corey (Amy) Brinkmeyer, Justin (Jessica) Brinkmeyer; four great grandchildren Graham Brinkmeyer, Mitchell Brinkmeyer, Madison McPhee-Coupland, Brayden Chapple; a sister Evelyn Purves of Watrous, SK; a brother Ken Parks of Foam Lake, SK; sister-in-law Elizabeth Parks of Craik, SK; Aunt Veda Olsen of Carrot River, SK; step daughters Carla Vanderwal of Lethbridge and  Dorothy Valgardson of Vernon, B.C. and step son Edwin Flickinger of Cardston and by numerous nieces and nephews.  
She was predeceased by her parents Oscar and Nettie Parks; first husband Lorne Wolfe; second husband Charles Flickinger; a son Gordon Brinkmeyer and brothers Allan Parks and Howard Parks.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006-48 Ave., Taber on Thursday, February 2, 2006 from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M.   
The Funeral Service will be held at Knox United Church, 4929-50 Ave., Taber on Friday, February 3 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Jim Lochhead officiating. Interment to follow in Taber Memorial Garden.
