1925 - 2007

Jack Goruk, beloved husband of Frances Goruk, passed away in Taber on Sunday, December 30, 2007 at the age of 82 years.
Besides his loving wife Frances, he is survived by his children Elaine (Gary) Ash of Edmonton and their children Greg (Joan), James and Heather (Doug); Karen Taillefer (Ron) of Coaldale; Bill (Linda) Goruk of Lethbridge and their children Chris and Gina; Doug (Nevis) Goruk of Lethbridge and their children Robert, Kevin (Tiffany) and Steven; Neil (Della) Goruk of Taber and their son Jason (Jodi); Denise (Ian) Cole of Taber and their children Kelly and Kevin; three great grandchildren Zachary, Jordan and Kash Goruk; sister Mary Baroldi of Taber and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Nick and Helen Goruk; son-in-law Omer Taillefer; brothers John Goruk and Nick Goruk; brother-in-law Roy Baroldi; sister-in-law Lillian Goruk.
Jack was born January 17, 1925 in Taber to Nick and Helen Goruk. After receiving his schooling in Taber, Jack served with the 49th Battalion, Royal Edmonton Regiment. He went to Europe and was wounded in Italy before returning home. He met and courted a young lady named Frances Denis. They married August 6, 1947. Jack worked at Empress Foods (Lucerne Foods) for thirty five years before retiring in 1986 for health reasons. He loved
his work and was honoured at retirement as the Corn King.
Jack was an avid fisherman, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and loved to coffee with the boys.
Relatives and friends are invited for Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, January 3, 2008 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, January 4, 2008 at 11:00 A.M with Reverend Mariusz Sztuk SDS Celebrant. Burial to follow in the Taber Memorial Garden.
