HECTOR GILLESPIE

1922 - 2005

Hector William Gillespie, beloved husband of the late Teresa Gillespie, of Taber, Alberta, passed away at home on Friday, January 14, 2005 at the age of 82 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Veronica "Roni" (Lawrence) Hermanutz of St. Albert, Margaret "Maggie" (Garry) Neufeld of Watson, SK, Anne (John) Ondrus of Lethbridge, David Gillespie of Medicine Hat, James (Cynthia) Gillespie of Cold Lake, Joan (Larry) Scheerschmidt of Botha, William (Beverly) Gillespie of Edmonton, Thomas Gillespie of Granum and Ian Gillespie of Taber. He is also survived by his brother Alec (Ethel) Gillespie of Calgary, special friend and companion Jean Morrison & family, three nephews, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and his cousins Betty Ireland of Scotland and Lexie Clark of England.
He was predeceased by his parents and by his loving wife of 49 1/2 years, Teresa.
Hector was born July 10, 1922 in Alyth, Scotland and raised in Perth, Scotland. He served with the R.A.F. during WWII from 1940 to 1946. He married Teresa Jenkins in Liverpool, England on October 2, 1945 and together they immigrated to Canada in 1953. Hector was a journeyman electrician, working as an Aircraft Electrical Mechanic from 1940 to 1966 and later as a First Class Mine Electrician from 1967 to 1987. Hector was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, a member of the Airforce Association of Canada and the Air Cadet League of Canada. He enjoyed playing soccer in his early years. His nine children were a source of great pride to him. A wonderful family that he credits in large to their mother. He thoroughly enjoyed family occasions. Christmas morning, birthdays, anniversaries and family reunions brought great joy to Hector, as he found them opportunity to spend quality time with his family.
The Funeral Service will be held at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Jim Lochhead officiating. Interment to follow at Taber Memorial Garden.
