1934 - 2019

Benjamin Petkau, beloved husband of Madeline Petkau, passed away peacefully at the Taber hospital with his family by his side on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the age of 85 years.

The Funeral Service was held at the Evangelical Missionary Church, 301 - 5 Avenue, Warner on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. Private burial followed at the Warner Memorial Cemetery.

Besides his loving wife Madeline, Ben is survived by his daughters Debra Riva-Cambrin of Edmonton, Melissa Hartnett of Medicine Hat and Carolyn (Jacob) Bueckert of Warner; grandchildren Chelsea Hartnett (Robert Lien), Dallas Bueckert, Jessie-Lynn Bueckert, Elissa Bueckert and great granddaughter, Vyla Lien. He is also survived by his brother John (Marina) Petkau, sisters Norma (Joe) Coffey-Sorin, Jessie Prokopchuk and by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parent Abram Petkau and Ann Fehr, grandson Gabriel Riva-Cambrin, brother Abram (Mary) Petkau, brother in-law Mike Prokopchuk, sons-in-law Edmund Hartnett and Lenard Riva-Cambrin and Madeline’s parents, Paul and Anne Andruchuk.

Ben spent the majority of his life in Devon where he was a painting contractor for the oilfield. He was a well known and liked businessman and friend through the oilfields and his carwash around Devon. Later, after retirement, he and his wife followed their youngest daughter and grandchildren to Bow Island, then Warner in the past year, in Southern Alberta where Ben made many more friends easily with his neighbourly attitude and sense of humour. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
