JIM HOGG

1918 - 2005

Mr. James B. Hogg, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Wilma Hogg, passed away peacefully at Taber Extended Care, on Saturday, April 9, 2005 at the age of 87 years.
Jim is the beloved father of Loretta Semaka of Taber; grandfather to Tanna (Dave) Nakamura of Taber and Tyron James (Anita) Semaka of Calgary; great grandfather to Taryn and Cole Nakamura.  He is also survived by two sisters-in-law Irene and Nora; a brother-in-law Mag and  by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of sixty years, Wilma, his father Harry and mother Lucy and grandmother Julia and by his beloved sister Isabel.
Jim was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on March 2, 1918 and spent most of his younger life living in southern Saskatchewan.    He married Wilma in 1939.  Dad worked at many jobs through his lifetime and was always a hard worker.  They eventually moved to B.C. settling in Kelowna where they lived for thirty years   and enjoyed the mountains, weather and abundance of fruit.  Jim was my mother's caregiver for over ten years when she was ill. He moved to Taber in May of 1999 residing at Homestead Manor, then Clearview Lodge and finally to Extended Care where everyone was so good and caring to him.  I think to describe my father in two words would be "a gentle man" and a "gentleman".  His manners were impeccable, whether at a dinner table, opening doors for ladies or removing his hat in a room.  His English Granny taught him well.  I am so gad that I had these six years with my father, it truly was a great time.  We went on a few holidays to Saskatchewan and he liked to eat out which we did a lot.  He loved seeing his great grandkids and hearing what they were doing.  His eyes would light when the kids or anyone came in and he always had a smile for everyone.  He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Ron Gartly officiating.  Interment to follow in the Taber Memorial Garden.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Jim's name may be made directly to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 234b-12b Street North, Lethbridge, Alberta T1H 2K7.
