DWIN JENSEN

1932 - 2006

Mr. Dwin Jensen of Taber, beloved husband of Mrs. Kate Jensen, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2006 at the age of 72 years.
Dwin was born August 7, 1932 in Barnwell, a son to Einar & Sarah Lenore Jensen. He was raised near Barnwell and received his schooling in Barnwell and Taber. A cowboy at heart, he spent many years in both the Chinook Rodeo and Pro Rodeo Circuit. Steer Wrestling, Bull Riding and Bucking Horses were his favorite events. He graduated from the Olds College Farrier Course. Dwin worked for several farmers throughout the years. It was while he was working in the Purple Springs area that he met the woman who roped and tied him down, Kate Kinniburgh. They were married on January 22, 1977, and settled in the purple Springs area, farming, raising cattle and sheep. Dwin loved children (and had a nickname for all of them!). His proudest moment was when he became a parent himself. He and Kate raised their three children, Quinton, Katie and Einar on their farm south of Purple Springs. He was a familiar sight at all the 4-H events, basketball games, football games and wrestling matches that his children took part in. Dwin also enjoyed a great game of cards and spent many mornings dropping in to the Purple Springs store to visit with the neighbours.
Dwin was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was very proud of the fact that they were sealed as a family on April 6, 2001. He was in the High Council and a High Priest Leader.
Dwin leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Kate, his son Quinton (Mori) of St. George, Utah, daughter Katie and son Einar both of Taber. He is also survived by his brothers Reed (Jean) Jensen and Arden Jensen both of Barnwell, sister Thea (Bob) Stevens of Pleasant Grove, Utah; sisters-in-law Barbara Jensen, Veda (Ray) Pearce and Lorraine Jensen; step family members Marlin (Joan) Anderson, Phyllis Baker, Carma Anderson and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Einar & Sarah Lenore Jensen, his stepmother Myrl Jensen, brothers Vance, Reece and Devon; sister-in- law Maxine Jensen; step family members Melvin and Rachel Anderson, Kenneth Anderson, Al Baker and Dennis and Dorothy Anderson.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, Taber on Monday, April 17, 2006 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., and again at the church prior to the funeral service on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 from 9:30 A.M. to 10:40 A.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Barnwell on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. with Bishop David Torrie conducting. Interment to follow in the Barnwell Cemetery.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Dwin'’s name may be made directly to the Taber Hospital Foundation, 4326 - 50 Avenue, Taber, Alberta T1G 1N9.
