Rudy Kleiner

1960 - 2023

It is with profound sadness that the family of Rudolph Robert Kleiner announce his passing on August 15, 2023 at the age of 63 years.

A Prayer Service was held at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. A celebration of Rudy’s life followed at the Royal Hotel, 5302 - 49 Avenue, Taber.

Rudy will be lovingly remembered by his long time partner Sue Bergen and family; daughter Kelcee Kleiner (Chris); parents John Sr. and Irma Kleiner; brothers John Jr. (Peggy) Kleiner and family, Jim (Pauline) Kleiner and family, Brian (Jackie) Kleiner and family and by numerous relatives and close friends.

Rudy was born in Taber on June 7, 1960 to John and Irma Kleiner. As a young man he was active in many sports. He was proud to be registered on the Taber Golden Suns all time player list 1976-1978. Rudy was an avid sports fan and his multiple sports channels on his cable package played 24/7 when he was home and the radio in his truck was always tuned to sports. Football became his favourite and he proudly sported a Seattle Seahawk tattoo on his chest. The absolute highlight of his life was the birth of his daughter Kelcee Kleiner in 1983.

Rudy started his work career in the cement industry which led him to the rig/oil industry until he became ill with double pneumonia. After recovering, he started driving truck for Lewis Tudor and family at Southern Transportation. He drove truck for many years until Lewis took him under his wing and showed him the ropes of the business. After Lewis' passing, the family thought so much of Rudy they made him a full partner. After Southern Transportation was sold Rudy started driving for TCA Secondary Containment in Taber. He truly enjoyed working there and treasured the great friends he worked with.

To honour his love of sports, if friends so desire, memorial tributes in Rudy’s name may be made directly to (payable to) the Justin Hall Memorial Committee - in care of Sgt. Meggison, 5700 - 50 Avenue, Taber, Alberta T1G 2H7 or by e-transfer to . Donations will be used to assist underprivileged youth in Taber to be able to participate in sporting activities.

Rudy's family are grateful for the professional care and assistance he was given during this time. Thank you so much to the doctors, nurses and specialists in the ICU unit at the Chinook Regional Hospital for everything they did for Rudy and the care and explanations offered to the family.
