Louise McCloy

1940 - 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of Irene Louise McCloy (Née Hunter), announce the passing of their mother following a brief illness, in Taber on Sunday, October 1, 2023.

Louise will be privately remembered by her family and friends.

She is survived by her loving family, her three children Mark (Heather) McCloy of Lethbridge, Joanne McCloy of Taber and Colleen (Grant) Hawes of Medicine Hat; grandchildren Tyler, Ashley, Megan, Kennedy and her great grandchildren Colton, Ava, Parker, Chloe and Remy. Louise is also survived by her brother Ken (Jeanne) Hunter, sisters-in-law Patti Dodds, Colleen McCloy and Jean Bostock; brother-in-law Bob Brucker; Ron’s family Ron Jr., Teri, Sharla and their families and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband Jack McCloy, her partner Ron Lloyd, parents Lawrence and Gladys Hunter, Jack’s parents Bill and Bella McCloy, sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Gord Hill, sister-in-law Sheila Brucker and brother-in-law Ian Bostock.

Louise was born in Fillmore, Saskatchewan in her grandparent’s home, on January 9, 1940. She grew up on the family farm in Corning, Saskatchewan. After graduating from high school, she moved to Saskatoon to attend business college. While attending college, Louise met Jack McCloy and they were wed in 1959. They lived several places in Saskatchewan, then moved to Calgary before settling in Taber in 1975. She worked at the ATB for twenty nine years.

Louise was an avid golfer, spending her summers out at Indian Hill Golf Club and in the winter months you could find her at the Taber Curling Rink. After Jack’s passing, she was lucky enough to find love again with Ron Lloyd. They spent the next ten years travelling together, spending their time between summers in Taber and winters in Welton, Arizona.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Louise’s name may be made directly to the charity of one’s personal choice.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Taber Health Centre for their kindness and care during Louise’s last days.

Good Night Irene, Good Night Irene

We’ll see you in our dreams…
