FRANK KLICS

1933 - 2006

Frank Klics of Taber, passed away at the Taber Hospital on Saturday, January 7, 2006 at the age of 72 years.
Frank was born in Rabbit Lake, Saskatchewan and attended school in Spirit Wood, Saskatchewan. He moved to Alberta in 1946 where he worked on various farms in the Picture Butte area. Frank moved to Taber in 1948 and worked at the Taber Sugar Factory and drove a caterpillar for a local construction company for two years. It was after this that he embarked on a 42 year career with the former Cornwall Canning Co., now known as Lucerne Foods. While working at Lucerne Foods, Frank fulfilled a life-long dream of purchasing his own farm south of Taber. Frank moved to Lethbridge in 1974, returning to Taber two years later. He retired at the age of 60 years and following a stroke ten years ago has been a resident of Taber Extended Care.
Frank was a hard working man and his family were the pride and joy of his life. He spent countless hours with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren supporting the activities they were involved in. Dad had a special bond with children and they were equally attracted to his personality. He would often be seen at the coffee shop or just driving around with a grandchild or two. Dad enjoyed playing cards and taking part in a lively discussion whether it be with his family or the "coffee" friends when he was able to do so.
Frank loved hockey, especially watching his son Rick play and later on his grandsons. He enjoyed watching wrestling and boxing and played league darts, bowled and curled. Frank will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his four daughters Donna (Ernie) Knibb of Coalhurst, Valorie (Malcolm) Wiebe of Taber, Jo-Anne Druhan of Calgary and Joyce (Rod) Klok of Taber and one son Dr. Richard (April) Klics of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren Chris (Kathy) Knibb, Jason (Dawne) Wiebe, Chad Wiebe, David (Chasity) Druhan, Kurt Druhan, Amanda Druhan, Janine (Marten DeVlieger) Klok, Andrea Klok and Taylor Thompson; great grandchildren Alexander and Heather Knibb, Logan and Gage Wiebe and Lexy Druhan; three sisters Kay (Tom) Bailey, Theresa Colby and Helen (Dale) Campbell, a brother John (Gladys) Klics; sisters-in-law Shirley Klics and Elizabeth Klics, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a very special friend Audrey Meisner. Frank was predeceased by his parents Simon and Kathleen Klics; brothers Steve and Simon Klics; sister Anne Christensen and brothers-in-law Marvin Colby and Rex Christensen.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006-48 Ave., Taber on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at 7:00 P.M.  The Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, 5009-48 Ave., Taber on Wednesday, January 11 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Mariusz Sztuk SDS Celebrant.  Interment to follow in the Taber Memorial Garden.
