GLEN LEE

1918 - 2008

Glen Lee, beloved husband of Ivy Lee of Etzikom, passed away peacefully in Bow Island on Sunday, July 6, 2008 at the age of 90 years.
Besides his loving wife Ivy, Glen leaves to cherish his memory his son Tom (Glenda) Lee. He is also survived by his brothers Eddie (Mary) Lee, Ralph (Doreen) Lee; sister Lora (Dean) McKnight; sisters-in-law Joyce (Martin) Lypka; Frances (Jerry) Thacker; brothers-in-law Tony (Carol) Annon, Roger (Karen) Annon and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Art & Nora Lee, sister Lillian, daughter-in-law Debbie Lee and two sisters-in-law Nona Cuthill and Wilma (Warren) Quinnell.
Glen was born January 18, 1918 in South Dakota and at the age of 6 months, he and his parents came to Canada. At the age of 15, he left behind his schooling in Etzikom to tend cattle with his dad. Glen joined the South Alberta Regiment in 1941 and was sent overseas the following year. On August 20, 1944, Glen was wounded in France at the Battle of Falaise Gap and received his discharge in February of 1945. In 1946 he purchased land from Wilbur Huff and began ranching and farming. Glen married Ivy Annon in 1950 and a year later their son Tom was born. In 1957, they moved to the farmstead where he resided until his passing. Glen never lost his passion for cattle. As he became less able to participate physically, he continued to brainstorm ideas (almost all proven to be good), designed to keep others busy.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Etzikom Community Hall, Etzikom on Friday, July 11, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor George Mills officiating. Burial to follow at the Etzikom Cemetery.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Glen’s name may be made directly to the Bow Island Health Centre (Palliative Care), Bag 3990, Bow Island, Alberta T0K 0G0, to the Etzikom Museum, Box 585, Etzikom T0K 0W0 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 317 - 10 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 2M7.
