Edna was born in Carstairs on May 9, 1917 to Peter & Alma Johnson, the fourth of five children. She met and later married Newton Lickiss on February 20, 1946. They continued to reside in town and had three children; Pat on January 3, 1947, Ralph on June 3, 1949 and Beverly on August 20, 1953.
Edna became ill with Polio in December 1953 and spent eight months recovering in Banff. Despite the effects that Polio would have for the remainder of her life, Edna never let it interfere with her kind and gentle nature.
