1913 - 2006

Arthur Larson, beloved husband of the late Erlene Larson, passed away peacefully at the St. Michael’s Health Centre, Palliative Care, Lethbridge on Sunday, December 3, 2006 at the age of 93 years.
Arthur is survived by his daughter Elaine Carswell of Lethbridge and her children Nelson (Penny) Carswell of Airdrie, Kevin (Cindy) Carswell of Pincher Creek and Kaireen (Ed) Emond of Drayton Valley; his son Ken (Doris) Larson of Spruce Grove and their children Nicole Larson and Brad (Jen) Larson all of Edmonton; his daughter Myrna (Martin) Holst of Hays and their children Wade Holst of London, Ontario and Todd (Sherry) Holst of Hays; fourteen great grandchildren and two great great granddaughters. He is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Alfred Monson of Viceroy, Saskatchewan, Dan Jones of Vauxhall; several nieces and nephews and by a dear cousin and friend, Margaret Albers of Weyburn, Saskatchewan.
He was predeceased by his wife Erlene October 15, 1991, his son-in-law Larry Carswell March 31, 1998, three brothers and two sisters.
Arthur was born June 3, 1913 at Bengough, Saskatchewan. On December 18, 1937, he married Erlene Jones. All three of their children were born at Bengough. In 1952, the family moved to Barons, Alberta where Arthur was employed as a mechanic. He built the hardware store in Hays when the hamlet was established and moved his family there in 1955. In 1960, he opened the Vauxhall Coin-Op Cleaners. In 1964 they sold and moved to Pincher Creek where he owned the McLeods Store and the Datsun dealership and garage. They retired and moved to Taber in 1972. Arthur and Erlene spent nineteen years together wintering in Arizona until Erlene passed away in 1991. Arthur continued wintering there for another six years. He purchased a condo in Taber in 1997 where he lived before moving to Columbia Assisted Living in Lethbridge in November 2004.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, December 7, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Peter Walker officiating. Interment to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
