VIOLA MCCARTHY

1909 - 2007

Viola Marcella McCarthy, beloved wife of the late Fred McCarthy, passed away in Taber on Monday, January 1, 2007 at the age of 97 years.
She is survived by her children Leo (Arlene) McCarthy of Castlegar, BC, Marguerite (Dean) Brown of Calgary, Myrna Petek of Vauxhall, Dennis (Gail) McCarthy of Cold Lake, Ella Fajnor of Calgary, Erika McCarthy of Calgary, Donald (Lisa) McCarthy of Saskatoon and Daughter-in-law Sheila McCarthy of Moose Jaw; twenty five grandchildren and forty great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sister Hilda Thiel of Taber and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Fred, infant daughter Cleora and son Leonard.
Vi was born May 31, 1909 at Granum, Alberta to Peter and Anna Thiel. She received her schooling at Lomond. Vi married Fred McCarthy on April 11, 1932. They moved to the Vauxhall area in 1940 and she resided their until 2004 when she moved to the Clearview Lodge in Taber. Vi loved music and enjoyed playing the piano and the banjo. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, which she continued to play up until her passing.
Relatives and friends are invited for Prayers at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 324 - 2 Avenue North, Vauxhall on Thursday, January 4, 2007 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Vauxhall on Friday, January 5, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Mariusz Sztuk SDS Celebrant.  Interment to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Vi’s name may be made directly to a charity of one’s personal choosing.
