RAY MARTIN

1961 - 2005

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our son, brother, uncle and friend, Ivan "Ray" Allan Martin on Thursday, January 13, 2005 at the age of 43 years.
Ray is survived by his loving mother Violet Charlton, his brother Alvin (Susanne) Martin and their children Kerry (Roger) Rusnell, Lisa Martin (Trent Perry) and Crystle Martin; his brother Bryce (Laura) Martin and their children Brad (Deanna) Martin and Jennifer Martin (Jody Archer); his sister Marion (Larry) Valgardson and their children Scott Valgardson, Leeann (Jared) Schindler, Jamie Valgardson, Joey Valgardson (Jamie Derksen), Theresa Valgardson and Erin Valgardson; his sister Brenda (Calvin) Pyrch and their children Nick Pyrch (Angela Graham), Kristan Pyrch (Dave Adkins), Jessica Pyrch and Melissa Pyrch. He is also survived by six great nieces and nephews Karlee, Kelsee & Kaylee Martin, Riley Martin, Jenna Rusnell and Lila Schindler and his grandmother Mary Makinson.
He was predeceased by his brother James Martin, his father Allan Martin and by his stepfather Harry Charlton.
Ray was raised and educated in Taber. He later moved to Calgary where he earned his Technologist Certificate from SAIT. He was employed in the concrete industry and spent many years working for McNally Construction, where he made many close friends. He liked to golf in the summer and play cards and bowl in the winter. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006-48 Avenue, Taber on Sunday, January 16, 2005 from 8:00 to 9:00 P.M. and also in the Relief Society Room at the Church prior to the funeral service on Monday, January 17, 2005 from 9:00 A.M. to 10:15 A.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709-50 Avenue, Taber on Monday, January 17, 2005 at 10:30 A.M. with Bishop Ray Gardner conducting.  Interment to follow in the Barnwell Cemetery.
