CAROLYN MACKAY

1921 - 2004

Carolyn MacKay of Taber, beloved wife of the late Bill MacKay, passed away in Taber on Monday, November 8, 2004 at the age of 83 years.  
Carolyn was born in North Bank, Alberta on August 15, 1921 and was raised in the Smokey Lake area where she received her schooling. She moved to Lethbridge where she met Bill MacKay and married him on June 7, 1946 after they both returned from War service. They lived in the Coaldale and Lethbridge areas and in 1967 they purchased a farm N.E. of Coaldale. In addition to farming Carol also worked for CJLH TV, CJOC, CHEC radio stations and National Neon. She also volunteered at the Interfaith Food Bank, the Lethbridge Soup Kitchen, counseled  breast cancer survivors and undertook a one year mission to the United States. Bill predeceased her in 1985.  Carolyn was the Church Secretary of Knox United Church for many years and since March 2002 has been a resident of Taber Continuing Care.  
Carolyn will be forever loved and remembered by her four children and eight grandchildren; Sharon (Blair) Richardson of Oakville, Ontario and their children Graham and Jillian; Pat Kenny of Lethbridge and her children Jocelyn and Nathan; Carol (Roy) Maier of Taber and their sons Collin and Kent and Grant (Barb) MacKay of Medicine Hat and their children Marni and Zachary. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.  
Carolyn was predeceased by her husband Bill, grandchildren Ryan and Heather, a sister Annie and a brother Mike.  
Respecting Carolyn's wishes, a Private Family Service was held at the Southland Funeral Chapel, Taber on Friday, November 12, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Jim Lochhead officiating.   Interment followed in the Archmount Cemetery, Lethbridge.
