PEARL MCCARTEE

1920 - 2004

Mrs. Pearl Arlene McCartee of Retlaw Alberta, beloved wife of the late Mr. Norton Leland (Mac) McCartee, passed away Monday, June 21, 2004 at the age of 84 years.
Pearl was born on the family farm south of Retlaw on June 2, 1920, the daughter of Bertha and John Kinzell. She was married to Mac on October 25, 1940.  They initially resided in Lethbridge, where Mac was employed by Dominion Fruit.  Company transfers took them to Medicine Hat in 1947, and Yorkton Saskatchewan in 1950.  While in Yorkton, Pearl was the Manager of Henry Beck's Dry Goods, a position she held for 25 years.  She and Mac returned to Alberta in 1975 to operate the Kinzell farm with Pearl's sister, Evelyn Hacking of Taber, Alberta.  Pearl and Mac enjoyed their years in Yorkton, spending many weekends camping and fishing at their favorite Madge Lake.  Pearl was a proud 50 year member of the Eastern Star.
She will be dearly missed by sister Evelyn Hacking, by sisters-in-law Dora Kinzell and Betty Kinzell, by nieces and nephews: Keith (Karen) Hacking, David (D.J.) Hacking, Lois (Phil) Boras, Sharon (Barry) Ainslie, Maureen (John) Machlaclan, John (Ann) Kinzell, Gene (Raylene) Kinzell, Bill (Arlene) Tolley, Beaulah (Gordon) Long, Ken Tolley, Marlene McCartee, and many great nieces and nephews.
Pearl was predeceased by brothers Gordon, Harold and Clifford (Bud) Kinzell, brothers-in-law Gordon Hacking, Carl McCartee and Leonard Tolley, sisters-in-law Kathleen Tolley and Margaret Kinzell, and nephew Leo McCartee.  Friends and family will fondly remember Pearl for her love of animals, especially her precious Duchess, her positive outlook on life and her fierce independence.
If so desired, memorial tributes may be made in Pearl's name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 207, 542-7th Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 2H1 or to a charity of their choice.
The Funeral Service will be held at Knox United Church, 4929-50 Ave., Taber on Saturday, June 26, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Jim Lochhead officiating.  Interment to follow in the Taber Memorial Garden.
