NORMAN NAKAMURA

1930 - 2004

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Norman Nakamura on January 31, 2004 in Taber, Alberta.
He is survived by his wife Amy; sons Greg (Maureen), Bruce (Lorilee), David (Tanna) and daughter Toni Oseen (Kim). He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Kristin, Ryland, Lyndon, Shandyn (mother Jody), Michael, Marlee, Joel, Jordan, Amanda, Taryn and Cole. He is also remembered by his sisters Kay Shimbashi (Albert deceased), Shirley Setoguchi (Sumio) and brother Charles Nakamura (Betty).  His extended family also includes many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Harry and Toshiye and sister Tamiko.
Norman was born in Port Hammond, B.C. on October 14, 1930.  In 1942, the family was relocated to Taber where he was raised and educated.  Carrying on the family tradition, he began farming at an early age.  Following the passing of his parents, Norman assumed control of a small mixed farm operation which, under his business acumen, evolved over the years into a large enterprise.  He expected perfection in his farming and business practices and as a result won several awards of excellence for his corn and potato crops.  Under Norman's mentoring, his three sons Greg, Bruce and David play a major role in the continuing success of the corporation. Even after his retirement his greatest passions still remained farming and watching his grandchildren grow. He also has always been a willing contributor and supporter of community and sporting activities in the Taber area. He lived his life to the fullest whether it was farming or sports and will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at he Southland Funeral Chapel (5006-48 Ave.) Taber on Monday, February 2, 2004 from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service and celebration of Norman's life will be held at the Knox United Church (4929-50 Ave.) Taber on Tuesday, February 3 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Jim Lochhead officiating.
