PHIL PARRY

1936 - 2008

John Philip Parry of Taber, beloved husband of the late Julie Parry, passed away peacefully at the Taber Hospital, with his family by his side, on Friday, August 29, 2008 at the age of 72 years.
Phil was born in Lethbridge, Alberta on March 24, 1936. He enjoyed all sports. He played hockey for the Taber Chefs and spoke of it frequently. He enjoyed golfing and playing tennis. Camping and fishing were also a definite love of his. He spent every summer of his youth in Waterton climbing mountains, blazing the first trail up to Crandell Lake and enjoying his mother’s (Kate Parry) cooking at Canyon Church Camp Lodge.
Phil’s careers were many from oil drilling, sales, water drilling and numerous trucking jobs. Many of his careers took him all over the world from Africa to South America... many adventures, many travels, and many stories. He always enjoyed a good laugh.
Phil was a strong, kind and generous man who loved spending time with his family and friends.
Phil is survived by his children John (Sandra) of Charlottetown, PEI; Jody Cook, of Taber; Jack (Lonni) of Denmark; grandchildren Jordan, Jessica and Mitchell Cook; John Parry; siblings Nellie Ellingson of Taber, Margaret Lewis of Taber, and Elwyn (Clara) Parry of Nanaimo, BC and numerous nieces and nephews. Phil was predeceased by his parents Jack and Kate Parry, and his wife Jean (nee MacLean) of Long Creek, PEI, 1971 and wife Julie (nee Kerkhoff) of Taber, 2006, and brother Emrys. Phil will also be missed by his many in-laws, extended family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006-48 Ave., Taber on Monday, September 1, 2008 between 7:00 and 8:00 P.M. The Funeral Service will be held at Knox United Church, 4929-50 Ave., Taber on Tuesday, September 2 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Frank Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Taber Memorial Garden.
If so desired, memorial tributes in Phil’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 317-10th Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 2M7.
