EDITH SHANNON

1909 - 2006

Edith Elma Shannon, a long time resident of Taber, passed away  peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at the age of 96 years.
Edith was born on October 7, 1909 in Burritt Rapids, Ontario to  Abraham and Amelia Shannon. When her parents died at an early age she  came to Taber to live with her uncle and aunt Larry and Evelyn  Tallman and their three sons Gerry, Edwin and Keith.  After she  completed her schooling she started work with Alberta Government  Telephones in Taber.  During that time her employment was interrupted  as she served in the Army during WWII.  After the war she continued  to work for AGT until her retirement. Edith was a member of the Royal  Canadian Legion, St. Theodore’s Anglican Church and the Anglican  Church Women’s group.
She is survived by sisters-in-law Bonnie Tallman of Kamloops, B.C.  and Rose Tallman of Taber and her son Jim (Linda) Tallman of Peace  River and daughter Debbie (Tom) Whalen of Aberdeen, Scotland; cousins  Allan and Shirley Brown of Nestor Falls, Ontario; numerous nieces and  nephews and by special friends Sarah (Nicky) Nicholson of Taber and  Duncan and Kathy Gillespie of Brooks.
The Funeral Service will be held at St. Theodore’s Anglican Church,  5120-44 Ave., Taber on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. with  Reverend Wil Stonehill officiating. Interment will follow in the  Taber Memorial Garden.
