LELAND WILSON

1929 - 2006

Leland Elmer Wilson, beloved husband of Iris Wilson of Taber, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge on Saturday, November 18, 2006 at the age of 77 years.
Besides Iris, his loving wife of forty five years, Leland is survived by his daughter Carol (Ron Visser) of Taber and her children Nicole (Dylon), Dakota & Jesse; and by his daughter Joanna of Taber. He is also survived by his siblings Wayne Wilson, Edward Wilson, Colleen (Louie) Ross, Audrey (Harold) Rowe, Gareth (Diana) Wilson, Marquita Slavik and Dale (Brenda) Wilson; his brother-in-law Keith Edwards as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and relatives.
He was predeceased by his parents Elmer & Vida Wilson, his sister Marie Bareham and her husband Bill, his sister Brenda Edwards and by his brother-in-law Joe Slavik.
Leland was born in Taber on March 15, 1929 to Elmer & Vida Wilson. They resided in Taber where he received his schooling. He married Iris Easthope on July 12, 1961. In his early years, he worked as a ranch hand, worked in construction and later was employed as a maintenance mechanic at the Taber Feed Mill until his retirement.
Leland loved horses and two of his favorites were The Old Mare and Hacksaw. He was involved in rodeo for many years and won several calf roping titles. He was a founding member of the Taber Roping Club. He served on the Agriplex board and was a member of the Taber Irrigation Impact Museum board.
He was a down to earth gentleman and will be remembered for commenting that “every day is a good day”. He made friends wherever he went and loved being around people. Leland was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the  Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and also at the church prior to the funeral service on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 from 10:00 A.M. to 10:40 A.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of  Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709 - 50 Avenue, Taber on  Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. with Bishop David Walters conducting. Interment to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
