1929 - 2010

Paul van Tryp, beloved husband of Jean van Tryp passed away in Bow Island on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the age of 80 years.
Paul is survived by his loving wife Jean and his children Anieta (Rodger+) Kienzle of Burdett and their children Jordan (Sarah) Kienzle (their children Austin, Zack and Parker), Adam Kienzle; Joanne (Rick) Adair of Grande Prairie and their children Rebecca, Kierstyn and Geoff; Lisette Simon (Art Laubenstein) of Burdett and her son Justin (Sara) Weatherhead; Wilma (Gerald) Struys of Agassiz, British Columbia and their children Ryan, Sean and Courtney Claggett; Anna-Marie (Warren) Bridge of Bow Island and their children Kevin (Kaitlyn), Aaron and Tyler; Jack (Joanne) van Tryp of Burdett and their daughter Olivia; John (Natalie) van Tryp of Burdett and their children Adriana, Karsten and Anke-Marie; Paul (Nora) van Tryp of Burdett and their children Everett and Aidan. He is also survived by his brother Kees (Joke) van Tryp; sister-in-law Nellie van Tryp; sisters Marie (Gerrit) van Overveld, Lena (Jac) Suykerbuyk, (all residing in Holland) and sister Mientje (Jac) Peeters of Duchess, as well as numerous other relatives in Holland.
He was predeceased by his parents Jacobus & Johanna van Tryp, as well as sons-in-law Rodger Kienzle and Dale Weatherhead; sister Rika Gevers (Piet) and brother Jan of Holland.
Paul was born in Schyf, Holland on September 14, 1929. He immigrated to Canada when he was 24 and settled in Taber. He married his school sweetheart Jean van Ham in 1955. In 1957 Paul and Jean moved to Burdett where they farmed and resided until his passing. In his early years, Paul was active in the Boy Scouts movement and with the St. Michael’s Parish Council. He also served on many boards including the County of Forty Mile No. 8 (1983 - 1998), Alberta Irrigation Council (1989 - 1996) and Burdett Village Council as Mayor (1998 - 2002). After retiring, Paul spent many hours with his favorite hobbies - carpentry, feeding the birds, working in the yard and coffeeing at the farm. Paul and Jean treasured time spent with their grandchildren and playing cards with family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 1113 - 1 Street East, Bow Island on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 7:30 P.M.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 1113 - 1 Street East, Bow Island on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Fred Monk Celebrant. Burial to follow at the Burdett Cemetery.
