1941 - 2025
Jennie Bernemann, beloved wife of George Bernemann, passed away in Taber on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at the age of 84 years.
Relatives and friends were invited to Prayers at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Sunday, June 1, 2025 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Monday, June 2, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
Besides her loving husband George, Jennie is survived by their children Chuck Epp (Carolin) of Abbotsford, British Columbia and his daughter Victoria; Wayne Epp of Taber; Jonathan Bernemann (Kaitlyn) of Abbotsford, British Columbia and his children Damon and Jayden; Lindsay Karsan (Ryan) of Toronto, Ontario and her daughter Selena. She is also survived by her siblings Harold, Anna (Maurice), Shirley, Florence (John) and by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son Allan Epp, her brother Edward and her sisters Helen and Myrtle.
Jennie was born in Lowe Farm, Manitoba on January 22, 1941. She lived in Edmonton with her partner where Chuck and Allan were born. Eventually they moved to Aldergrove, British Columbia where Wayne was born. Jennie was involved with the Aldergrove Legion #265 where she was Legion Auxiliary President for a number of years. In 1990 she applied for a job at Dogwood Fur Farms where she met the love of her life George who was working on the family farm. They married in October 11, 1991 and moved to Abbotsford, British Columbia with George’s children Jonathan and Lindsay where they raised them together. Jennie kept busy waitressing and catering for the Legion, where she organized smorgasbords for Legion fundraising and where she was known for her cabbage rolls. In 2001 she went back to work on the farm where she worked side by side with George. In 2008 they purchased a home in Taber and in 2011 she retired to Taber and supervised the renovation of the house. George lived six months of the year on the coast and six months in Taber. Jennie enjoyed baking and making cabbage rolls, she handed out the goodies to friends. She will be sadly missed.
