1946 - 2025

Rick Ilczynski, beloved husband, father and grandpa, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family in Taber on Monday, May 26, 2025 at the age of 79 years.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Rick’s life on Friday, June 13, 2025. The celebration will be held between 3:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. in Gloria’s backyard, where Rick loved to watch his family and friends gather and his grandkids play, with the highlight for many years being their annual Cornfest barbeque at the end of summer. Please bring your own lawn chair, parking is available in the church lot west of the house.

Besides Gloria, his loving wife of fifty four years, Rick is survived by their three sons Shaun (Corrie) Ilczynski of Taber and their daughters Kinley and Ally Ilczynski; Brad Ilczynski of Taber and his daughter Sydney Ilczynski; Jason (Sherilynn) Ilczynski of Taber and their sons Hudson and Kohen Ilczynski.

Rick was born in Heidelheim, Germany on March 29, 1946. He moved to Canada at a young age and attended school in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. He met Gloria, the love of his life in Calgary in 1967, at a New Year’s Eve party. They married on September 19, 1970.

Together they raised their three sons in Taber. The closest thing to Rick‘s heart were the years he was active in coaching his sons in hockey, baseball and soccer. Later on, he loved following and watching his two youngest sons play in the band, The Travezty.

Rick was a journeyman electrician by trade and just retired last May from Rivers Electric after more than three decades of employment.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Rick’s name may be made directly to the Taber Titans Charity by e-transfer, .

Rick’s family would like to offer special thanks to the Taber EMTs, Taber Fire Department and all the staff of the Taber Hospital.
