Rose Tajcnar

1936 - 2025

With great sorrow, the family of Rose Tajcnar announces her passing on September 5, 2025, at the age of 89. Rose died peacefully at home in the arms of her loving husband of 64 years, Rudy.

Rose is survived by her children Greg (Jan), Sandra (Richard), Judy (Jeff), and Rhonda; grandchildren Randi (Chase), Colin (Ceanna), Sam, Spencer (Ashton), Rachel, Makayla (Peter), Kennedy, Emily, and Ryan; and great grandchildren Major, Max, Sterling, and Lennon.

She was predeceased by her parents George and Anna Ziegler; brothers Alexander, Peter, Gottlieb, and three sisters.

Born January 28, 1936 in Minsk, Russia, Rose immigrated to Canada with her family in 1953. At just 17, she worked tirelessly to find jobs and a home for her family, proudly earning her driver’s licence to help her parents. Her devotion to family was remarkable from a young age. Throughout their marriage, Rose and Rudy were inseparable, sharing a deep faith in God and a family who knew they were prayed for daily. Rose welcomed everybody into their home - a sanctuary of kindness, laughter, and music, where she expressed her love though home-cooked meals and spending quality time enjoying her grandchildren’s many talents. A dedicated member of the Catholic Women’s League, Rose gave generously of her time and talents. As a school board trustee, she advocated for teachers and inspired many family members to pursue the profession. She was a natural teacher and mentor, and through her chosen vocation as a mother, she imprinted invaluable wisdom on the many children who called her house home.

Rose’s legacy of love, faith, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing, loving, and being loved by her.
